Amid the coronavirus mayhem, Megan Thee Stallion has worked her way to the top once again.
Released on April 7, the remix featuring Beyoncé rocketed her song “Savage” to No. 4 on the Hot 100 Chart. In a recent interview with The Guardian, the Houston rapper revealed how she had responded to the news of one of her major idols wanting to collaborate with her. “I got a call: Beyoncé wants to do a remix to ‘Savage’,” she told the newspaper, “and I was like … what? Shut up. Shut up. You’re lying. Beyoncé don’t want to get on nothing with me. Come on, it’s me! I know I’m Megan Thee Stallion, but dang!” She continued by explaining the personal significance of working with Beyoncé, saying: “You grow up and you friggin’ watch Destiny’s Child, and you go to the rodeo to see them perform. You don’t grow up and think you’re gonna meet Be-yon-cé!”

Megan Pete, known professionally as Megan Thee Stallion, is a rapper, singer and songwriter, born and raised in Texas. When she started writing raps at the age of 16, she committed to the idea of the entertainment industry. She released her first EP Make it Hot in June 2016, at the age of 21, and has since gained a following of around 16 million across all of her social media platforms. She signed to 300 Entertainment in November 2018, making her the first female rapper on the label. Her first full-length project, Fever, was released on May 17, 2019. In 2019, Time placed her on their first "Time 100 Next" list.

Even though most people are stuck inside and can’t go outside right now, Megan knows her fans can still dance. In honor of her fans dancing to both the original “Savage” and the remix with Beyoncé, she compiled many different TikToks into one video on her YouTube channel. Just days after the remix was released, the “#savageremixchallenge” was trending, under which you could find all dances made to the song. While influencers on the platform would previously dance to a 15-second version of  “Savage,” they now dance to a 60-second version of “Savage Remix” featuring Beyoncé.

In the span of four minutes, Houston native Beyoncé adds four original verses to "Savage (Remix)," showing off how her hips would rule TikTok and how she inherits her attitude from her mother, Tina Knowles. Both Megan and Beyoncé have pledged to give their portions of the song's proceeds to Bread of Life, a Houston nonprofit providing disaster relief to those impacted by COVID-19.

Continuing with that momentum, Megan teamed up with Major Lazer, and plans to release another remix of “Savage” in the near future.
