Hopkins Results
Hopkins for the first time hosted the FAA league tournament of 8
schools. A doubles draw and a singles draw were made up of each
schools top 2 singles players and top 2 doubles teams. At #2 singles,
Ben Collier the overall 8th seed lost a very close three set battle to
St. Lukes #1 player. Defending home turf, Hopkins was able to advance
their #2 doubles team, Tom Rosiello and Zach Blitzer, to the
quarterfinals before coming up short to the eventual champions from
Brunswick. At the #1 doubles position and the overall #1 seed, Noah
Rennert and Peter Nuegabauer advanced to the finals of the Doubles
draw before losing a long close three setter to Brunswick in front of
a spirited home crowd. Peter Conklin, at the #1 singles position for
Hopkins, and the overall #2 seed in the singles draw, breezed through
to the finals where he lost to the #1 seeded, Kyle Wolfe of Greens
Farms Academy. Conklin will likely get a rematch as Hopkins plays
host to GFA Wednesday afternoon for a share of the team conference
championship with Brunswick.
