Eighth grade Latin students researched a Roman topic of personal interest, then crafted a creative product to teach about the topic. At the Spectaculum Romanum, these students presented their projects on Roman culture to fellow students, teachers, and advisers. Projects included miniature catapults, model aqueducts, scale architectural models, samples of Roman recipes, Roman theater and drama masks, mosaics, clothing, videos, battle scenes in miniatures and drawings, maps, and gladiator equipment, just to name a few.
Following the presentations, students participated in a variety of activities including Roman-themed board and dice games, trivia, mosaic making, Roman military (led by Carlos Lourenco, father of Miles Lourenco '16), coin making, calligraphy, making catapults and a special concrete making workshop in a science lab with Mr. Young.
