Hosted this year at Rye Country Day, the NYPDL is a student-run debate league focused on college-level Parliamentary Debate.

The invitational featured 128 individual competitors—formally referred to as ‘speakers’—and 64 high school teams, all debating diverse topics for each round that ranged from journalism to veganism. Rose P. ’27 won 4th Place Varsity Speaker; Emilia A. ’26 won 5th Place Varsity Speaker; Marguerite P. ’28 and Alyson H. ’26 placed in the top 25 speakers; Marcus L. ’28 and Ravi C. ’28 advanced to the novice semifinals; and Marguerite P. ’28 and Catherine P. ’30 advanced to the novice quarterfinals.

“I’m really proud of all the debaters! We’ve grown so much as a team and as individuals,” commented co-captain Chloe W. ’26.

Each year, the Hopkins Debate Team consists of 20 to 25 students who regularly compete in tournaments.

Congratulations to all participants for their success!
