A group of 19 students (listed below) represented Hopkins School and the state of Connecticut at the 33rd Annual National Science Olympiad competition at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio on May 19-20, 2017.

Hopkins has competed at the national level in 8 of the past 9 years. The competition consists of 23 different events and each year a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. This year the competition included events such as Chem Lab, Forensics, Robot Arm, Astronomy and Hydrogeology.

Hopkins placed 38th out of 60 teams and earned two top-ten finishes: 2nd place in Ecology (Ian Magill and Morgan Noonan) and 7th place in Write-It/Do-It (AJ Marks and Anees Patwa).
