Students "Escape" using Math & Science

Four sections of Algebra 2 and Science 7 students participated in a unique class activity last week. Math teachers Mr. Gold, Mrs. Turner along with Director of Innovation & Technology and Science teacher Mrs. Lamont worked together to create escape room activities for their classes. Each class divided into groups, were “locked” into a study room in the Calarco Library, and were tasked with finding clues and solving puzzles related to their course work. The puzzles helped them unlock several elaborate lockboxes with the goal to “escape” in the allotted class time. A number of teams were able to solve the problems in time, and were rewarded with candy prizes as well as signs reading “We Broke Out!”, “We thought outside the box”, “We FUNCTIONED well as a team!”, and “We were not FOILED by those polynomials!” among others.
