Calderone's "Cymbeline" script published by Theatrefolk

Congratulations to Hopkins Drama teacher Michael Calderone who has published his first script, Shakespeare on a Shoestring - Cymbeline!. Calderone adapted William Shakespeare’s play Cymbeline for the Hopkins stage in 2015, which was performed by the Hopkins' Ensemble Theater Production Class in Townshend Auditorium in 2016, and at the Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland last summer. (Click here to read a previous story, and here to read a review of the Fringe performance.) The streamlined format includes a small ensemble cast, a percussionist, a minimal set created by living tableaux and audience interaction with a running time of 50 minutes. The adaptation appeals to both lovers and haters of Shakespeare, presenting the Bard’s work in an approachable format for audiences of all ages.

Calderone spent the last year perfecting his working script, and the finished product has been published by Theatrefolk, a publisher that specializes in plays for schools and student performers. Calderone’s rendition of Cymbeline is now available to schools across the country to perform.  Click here to visit their website. Congratulations Mike!
