Cross Country Competes at NEPSTA

The Hopkins Cross Country teams participated at the NEPSTA Championship Race at Governor’s Academy in Byfield, MA this past Saturday. 
The Boys Varsity team finished 5th of 16 teams. 

Defending champion, junior captain Nic Burtson, finished 7th. Charlie Mason was 10th. David Judd was 11th. Those three boys earn all NEPSTA honors and a place in next week’s All-Star race. For David and Charlie, it is their first such honor. For Nic it is his 4th, having earned his first NEPSTA honors as an 8th grader.
 
The Girls Varstiy team finished 5th of 17 teams. Senior Maliya Ellis was 5th in 20:04. She earns all NEPSTA for the 4th consecutive year. 

The JV teams also competed.  The JV ran on a different, shorter course (c4840m), which was required because of the conditions of the course after a bout of rough weather.. The JV Boys team finished 4th of 14 teams. Freshman Evan Migdole was the first Hopkins finisher in 18:15. Right behind him in 18:21 was sophomore Jack Keegan.  The JV Girls were also 4th, of 11 teams. 7th grader Ava Maccaro was 5th overall in 22:05. Mei Han was 20th in 23:05.
