UPDATE 3/7: Fencing Heads to State Tournament

This weekend and next weekend, Hopkins fencing will be attending the Connecticut State Individual and Connecticut State Team Fencing Championships.

This Saturday, March 1st, 18 members of the Varsity Fencing team will be heading to Mohegan Sun to take part in the Connecticut State Individual Championships.  Over 360 fencers will be competing, representing over 60 Connecticut high schools.  Spectators are welcome to the event, and the cost is only $5 at the door for a full day of fencing.  Head Coach Emilie Harris is looking forward to the event.  Of this years participants, she says "we are sending kids who are defending their titles to kids who have only been fencing for 3 months, and it should be a strong showing by our team."

Placement at this weekend's event determines whether or not fencers will proceed to the next tournament, the Connecticut State Team Fencing Championships.  That event will be held next weekend, March 9th, at Greenwich High School.
