On Friday, May 17 the Modern Language and Classics departments announced the students who received high scores in the National Language exams. Faculty presenters included Chris Maharidge, Classics Department, Lan Lin, Modern Language Department Chair and Chinese teacher, Tilden Daniels, French teacher, Eleonora Boscolo-Suteu, Italian teacher, and Chris Kozey, Spanish teacher. Throughout the program, a collection of students recited poems in Latin, Chinese, French, Spanish, and Italian. Please watch the attached video to see the recitations.

Over 139,000 students from all 50 states and 20 foreign countries participated in the NLE.
At Hopkins, 209 students took the NLE,with 163 receiving awards and recognition. Only the top scorers are named here.
The National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS) was established in 1993 to recognize those accomplished high school students who study Chinese as a world language. It is a scholastic organization that promotes and recognizes students who demonstrate citizenship, leadership, and community service.

Grand Concours is the national French contest organized by the AATF (American Association of Teachers of French)
Special recognition to Connor Hartigan ’19 for being honored with the Tom Betts Senior Prize awarded by the AATF Connecticut chapter.
Special recognition to Daniela Rodriguez-Larrain ’23 for earning a Platinum medal (perfect score) for the Level 1 Grand Concours.
