Hopkins Loses on Homecoming

Hopkins hosted New York Military Academy on Saturday for our annual Homecoming game.  In front of a lively home audience, the Hilltoppers fell behind as NYMA scored early and fast.  This mirrored the Hilltoppers last home game and early on it was evident that Hopkins was in for another tough contest.  After being blanked at halftime, the Hilltoppers best play came late in the 3rd quarter.  Trailing 34-0, Luke O’Connell ‘23 connected with Matias Vece ‘24 on a quick 3 yard pass, where Vece spun out of two tacklers and took it to the endzone for the 49 yard score.  The score cut the deficit to 34-6, but Hopkins was unable to close the gap and dropped to 1-3 on the season.

This has been a tough two game stretch for the Hilltoppers and they will need to turn things around this week, as they head down to Long Island Lutheran (3-1) for interleague play.  We hope many of our fans are able to join us in Long Island!
