Hopkins girls enjoy success at FAA meet #1

The Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) held its first cross-country race of the season on Wednesday, September 20, at Sherwood Island State Park. All schools in the league participated in 5k races on a beautiful day. All races were scored dually, and all teams participated in the same races (one for girls, one for boys).

The girls raced first. The teams were Greens Farms Academy, Greenwich Academy, Greenwich Country Day, Holy Child. Hopkins, King, Masters, Rye, Sacred Heart Greenwich, and St. Luke's.

The girls, despite missing one of their top runners with illness, won all their matchups, with strong runs from every member of the team, from the most experienced to the newest.

Full results are here.

Even though the championship-style score is listed first, only the dual scores listed afterwards count in the regular-season races.

Hopkins next races at the Canterbury Invitational on Saturday, September 23, at the Canterbury School in New Milford.

A very encouraging start for the girls's team!
