Hopkins Squash plays tough matchup against Hotchkiss
Whitney Stewart
First Match of the Season vs Hotchkiss today! Always showing the best sportsmanship.
Hotchkiss played and lost a 2-hour grueling match against Taft School (they are #3 and #4 in NE now), losing 3-4 right before playing us. There were hopes Hotchkiss might be tired, alas they were raring to go with hard cross-courts and top fitness. Kyle Abrahamsen, new member of the Varsity team played up at Position #7 managed to score one game off of his opponent Luke Velasco!!! Kyle showed he can get into points and keep up with the pace. The Team overall put up a decent fight with steady playing and great attitudes. Brendan at #1 played very strong games at #1 nearly got a game off of a very powerful hitter, Oscar. Ronan at #3 played out extremely strategic points, hitting deep then working opponent forward with his signature drops. I am proud of how well everyone behaved and played!
Scores: Some CLOSE games and well played points.
