Hopkins fight hard against Rye Country Day

Evan Yan played his first Varsity Match at #9 and won with smart drops and thoughtful placement: reminiscent of his older brother Ethan Yan who played Varsity here and is now at Wesleyan! Theo Friedman also took his first official win a #8 with great energy and decisiveness.  Kyle Abrahamsen at #7 taking his 2nd match of the season with a 'bagel' in the 4th game (no mercy): great turnaround, excellent serves and some super-fast running.  Brendan at #1 fought tooth and nail against Henry Fogel similar level rating...brought it home 3-1 with very close games, some precise volley-drop-nicks and extremely intense, attacking rallies.  Dylan at #2 nearly took games and fought hard with tight rails and retrieval of nearly everything up front.  Ronan at #3 took 2 games off higher rated player: super tight rails, incredible use of all four corners and exception playing.  Ethan Gordon proved his captain's advice of volleying by doing it in the match, hitting super close rails on left side with great hands pulled a game off of significantly higher rated player. Captain Dev at #5 put up a fight as did Benjy at #4 both battling players 1 point above them with grace.
