Teachers and Friends: learned from Kent today

Whitney Stewart
Hopkins put up a valiant fight against ever-tough Kent School.  Good Day of squash, difficult to get into the points, however always perfect sportsmanship and manners on both sides.
Match at Kent went as expected in terms of results: they are a quiet bunch of polite players, powerful and serious, no messing around!!!  What's nice is that Coach Nikhil Seth plays a large Roster and we had 3 JV---Nikhet, Derin and Arjun playing with us---and Andrew our Manager also got a game! To be on the court with a player above your level, well, it's important to do that to see what you are up against, and it won't always be like that.

I saw moments from several of you that tell me you are close to a breakthrough: Brendan, Dylan, Ronan all were able to play into the points which is amazing and possible to turn that into success in the future. While our top 3 used to maybe picking off a game or match, Kent players were better yesterday.  One day. Kyle showed grit and great running, Benjy showed depth and resistance, Evan put up a good fight at #7 first time, with nice lobs and drops, and our pickup team showed me the right attitude towards playing on Varsity. Show up, do your best. Captain Vitto today led the team with an interesting bus ride on the way up to ent, good words before and after the match. Thanks to Andrew for baking cookies. Food always helps with energy and attitude.
