The Goats traveled down to SUNY Purchase this afternoon to take on the Rye Country Day School in weather that we had yet to see this year--no clouds, no wind, and temperatures reaching the 70s. Although not used to playing in such ideal tennis conditions, our squad quickly got down to business and found their form.

First off the courts were Andy and Jay, who dominated the net with crisp volleys and strong service returns. Alex and Max were next to earn points, which they did with powerful serves and excellent ground strokes. Lucio clinched with a flourish on the last point: a very crafty passing shot down the line. Jacob and Bryan played flawless doubles today as well. Teo's first set was a close one. He regrouped in set two to force the 10-point tiebreaker, where he was able to come out on top. Lucas and Karun had a similar score in their close D2 match. After grasping the second set, they took their energy to a higher level and earned the W with a stellar performance in the tiebreaker. Excellent work, guys!

And so, Hopkins began its League with some thrilling victories. We look forward to getting out on the home courts tomorrow to play Kent School in the NEPSAC format, (6 singles, 3 doubles).

YEAH HOP!
