Despite the late return to campus yesterday evening, the boys appeared to be in fine form versus Kent today. They played under cloudy skies, but conditions overall were mild. We began the match with the singles division, with the even numbers quickly going in our favor. Alex, Andy and Karun had their "A" games today and quickly outmatched their rivals. The Odd-numbered matches were much closer. Jay had a slower start but he locked in just in time to earn the first set, and then clinched the victory for Hopkins with flawless play from there on. Lucas put up a good fight but was bested today by a consistent opponent who hit a large number of passing shots. Lucio's match versus Kent's #1 went nearly the entire length of the other singles and doubles contests today. He and his rival played head to head for two full sets, hitting brilliant shots and holding long rallies with powerful ground strokes. After taking the second set, Lucio kept the momentum and claimed the tiebreaker with a string of solid serves, volleys and putaways. It was exciting tennis to watch!

During Lucio's second set, our doubles duo Jacob and Evan were able to chalk up a nice win in the #3 position, and Karun and Lucas put on a nice show at the #2 spot, where they were able to jump ahead at the end.

We are very pleased with our well-earned victory today. We hope to have at least one day (rain is forecast for tomorrow) of practice before we take to the courts again this Saturday vs. the Masters School.

YEAH HOP!
