Dragons Burn Hilltoppers

Two things have been inescapable for the Hilltoppers this year: rain and tough games. On another dreary day atop the Hill, the Dragons of Greens Farms came to play. Hopkins drew first blood on a goal from Captain Scheps. It was almost all Greens Farms from then on out, rattling off 10 unanswered goals. The Dragons were almost unbeatable at the face off X, despite changing tactics and defensive measures Hopkins struggled to gain and, most of all, sustain possession of the ball. Sweat dripped, rain dripped, and fatigue showed. Without a deep bench, the Hilltoppers had difficulty keeping up with the fast paced GFA. Mr. Cafferty was peppered with 37 shots, saving a whopping 20. Senior Will Hensel and Junior Rich Fearon III led the team in ground balls. Despite the conditions and skill of the opponent, there was no decline in effort. Matt Goos secured his third straight hat trick and the team was able to net 6 goals. Final: 17-6. Hopkins travels to Suffield on Saturday in search of their first win of the season. Eyes on the prize.
