Jazz Band Students Perform in Statewide Festivals

Throughout the spring of 2025, the Hopkins Jazz Band participated in several local jazz festivals around the state. The ensemble performed a wide repertoire, attended educational clinics, and received feedback from professional adjudicators.

The festivals included the UConn Jazz Festival in February, the U.S. Coast Guard Jazz Festival in April, and the Greenwich Essentially Ellington Festival in May.

"At each event, students represented Hopkins with impressive musicianship, showcasing their hard work and growth over the year," said band director Erik Elligers.

According to Elligers, these festivals offered not only performance opportunities but also meaningful experiences that deepened students' understanding of jazz and ensemble playing.
