The Hopkins Girls' Basketball Team started the season in Stamford at King. The game went back and forth with both teams making runs. The Hilltoppers gave up a 2nd half 12-point lead. King took the lead with 2 free throws 53-52 with .9 remaining. Following a timeout, Hopkins advanced the ball to half court. Sophomore point guard Grace Walsh (#15) threw a pass across the court to junior center Eva Stirk (#24). She made a turnaround jumper off the glass from 18 feet at the buzzer to win the game 54-53. 
This was Walsh's 1st game with the Hop and she immediately made an impact, breaking the press, scoring (13 pts) and playing great defense (4 steals). Senior guards Veronica Vece and Senior co-captain Nicole Tooker did an excellent job on defense guarding NEPSAC All Star guard Carolyn Joo. Other players who made positive contributions for Hopkins included junior forward Maeve 'Buckets' Phipps, sophomores Julianne 'Ju-Ju' Gonzalez and Luannie Wang. Phipps rebounding (8 rebs) helped Hopkins to the win. 
Stirk led all scorers with 27 points. She added 12 rebs and 5 blocks.
