Hopkins was honored by a visit from Brian Mullaney, Director of Wonderwork at this morning’s assembly. Mr. Mullaney’s organization Wonderwork provides transformative surgeries to children in the poorest countries. Their mission is to help the millions of children around the world suffering and dying from medical problems that can be treated with quick and inexpensive surgeries. They focus mainly on children with cleft palates, clubfeet, water on the brain, a hole in the heart, burn victims and those who are blind. WonderWork and Mullaney’s other charitable organization, Smile Train, have raised millions of dollars and helped millions of children already. Mullaney also shared that many American children, inspired by the good work of these organizations have helped raise funds for their peers across the world with penny drives, car washes and bake sales.
Hopkins parents Kevin and Jeanine O’Brien helped to bring Mr. Mullaney to speak to the school today. They have been friends and supporters of Wonderwork and Smile Train for many years.
