On Monday, April 20, the Sustainability Committee invited alum Rob Klee ’92 to assembly as an Earth Day speaker. Rob Klee is the Commissioner of Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), appointed in January 2014.
Klee spoke about the wide range of topics and problems that cross his desk, from wildlife encounters to integrating solar energy into CT. He explained that working at the DEEP is a perfect real world application of an interdisciplinary education, and that he recollects speaking at Hopkins assemblies every time he speaks in front of an audience. Following his address, he fielded questions from the community on a variety of topics including invasive species, proper maintenance of forests and open spaces, as well as nuclear power and clean forms of energy.
Please see the attached video to hear Commissioner Klee’s engaging talk about Connecticut’s environmental and energy programs.
