13 Hopkins Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Thirteen members of the Hopkins School Class of 2027 have been named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, earning recognition among more than 16,000 academically talented high school seniors nationwide.
The recognition marks the second consecutive year that Hopkins has celebrated double-digit National Merit Semifinalists, following 16 students from the Class of 2026.
The Hopkins students named National Merit Semifinalists are:
John B., Beckett E., Henrietta H., John K., Alexander M., Noah N., Thomas P., Calder R., Lukas R., Theodore S/, Nikhet V., Yutong X., and Vivian Z.
National Merit Semifinalists are selected based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The distinction recognizes some of the highest-scoring students in each state and provides an opportunity to compete for college scholarships.
The 13 Hopkins students are now eligible to advance to the Finalist stage of the competition, where they will be considered for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million. To qualify as Finalists, students must meet additional academic and application requirements. Approximately 95 percent of Semifinalists nationwide are expected to advance to Finalist standing.
Finalists will be notified in February 2027, with National Merit Scholarship winners announced beginning in the spring.
