Guest Lexie Holden speaks on Native American Tribal Law
Students in Joe Addison's Native American Literature and Thom Peters' Atlantic Communities II classes heard from guest speaker Lexie Holden on Friday, Jan. 26. Holden spoke to the students about the legal profession as an act of storytelling before providing an overview of Indian Law through two recent Supreme Court cases, McGirt v. Oklahoma and Haaland v. Brackeen.
Holden is a J.D. candidate in Yale Law School's class of 2025. She is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She graduated in June 2020 from the University of Chicago with degrees and dual departmental honors in Political Science and Germanic Studies, as well as a minor in Human Rights. She has previously worked on issues relating to food, agriculture, Tribal law & policy, and social justice.
