Students perform "The Tempest" for Mauro-Sheridan

On Wednesday, February 6, students from Mr. Calderone’s Ensemble Theater class performed “The Tempest” in the “Shakespeare on a Shoestring” style for students at Mauro-Sheriden Interdistrict Magnet School, nearby in the Westville neighborhood of New Haven. The “Shoestring” style, which uses minimal props, actors creating scenery, plot explanations and audience interaction was a successful way to share one of Shakespeare’s works with the younger students. At the end of the performance, the Hopkins actors answered questions from the audience.
