Hopkins wins home opener

Hopkins won its first home game of the season, beating GFA 1-0. Michael Illuzzi (11) made 3 saves in the shutout. He was joined in the backline by Dylan Gerard (11), Michael Shewaye (12), Brennen Catino (11), Micah Betts (11), and Quinby Berry (11). 

Tommy Pont Strong (9) went close on a few occasions in the first half. In the second, the mercurial captain Munib Kassem (12) fired a direct free kick into the lower corner. 

Gabe Goodman (11), Noah Whalen (11), and Ethan Liu (12) played well in the middle of the field. 

Hopkins travels to Albany to take on Pomfret this Sunday.
