Ching '20 Returns from Fencing Nationals
This July, Sapphira Ching travelled to Salt Lake City, Utah, to compete in the USA Fencing National Championships. Sapphy was seeded 102/133 in the Cadet (U17) Women Saber Champhionship; she finished 55/103. Among women born in 2003, Sapphy ranked 7/40.
At the US Fencing Award Ceremony, she recieved dual "All-Academic First Team" and "All-American High-School Second Team" awards. There were approximately 100 ninth graders recipients, and 20 received both accolades.
As a referee, Sapphy officiated the entire Division II Women Saber event with 123 fencers from seeding bouts to quarterfinals.
