Ching '20 Advances to US Summer Nationals Cadet Events
Sophomore fencer Sapphira Ching earned 5th place at this weekend's American Challenge Regional Cadet (U17) Competition in Parsippany, NJ, and renewed her D ranking. As a result, she became the first Youth 14 Sabreuse from Connecticut to qualify for 2018 US Summer Nationals Cadet Events. The American Challenge is the largest regional qualification tournament in the USA with over 1,000 participants from seven countries. In Sapphy's Cadet Women Saber event (U17), she is the highest ranking fencer born 2003. In her age group (Youth 14), Sapphira currently ranks #19 in USA, #2 in New England and #1 in Connecticut.
