Hopkins FBLA Students Excel at State Business Conference
On Tuesday, March 17, Hopkins juniors David R. ’27, Miles L. ’27, and Jacob R. ’27 earned top honors at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Connecticut State Conference.
FBLA is a nonprofit educational association with a quarter-million members nationally, preparing students for careers in business and business-related fields. The Hopkins chapter is a student-led club that has been active for two years.
Held at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford and drawing nearly 1,500 high school students from across the state, the Conference opened with a keynote address from Dr. Miguel Cardona, the U.S. Secretary of Education during the Biden Administration. Students then spent the remainder of the day attending workshops and completing competitive testing in business-related subject areas.
Miles placed first in the "Data Science & AI" objective test, which challenges students to demonstrate their understanding of data analysis, machine learning, and the principles of artificial intelligence. Jacob placed fifth in the same event.
Jacob also received the Connecticut FBLA Ambassador of the Year Award along with David. The CTFBLA Ambassadors Program is a new initiative designed to strengthen communication, leadership, and collaboration between the State Council and local high school chapters.
Moving forward, Miles has qualified to represent Connecticut at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio this June.
