Alumni Weekend 2025

Windy and drizzly weather couldn’t stop alums from returning to the Hill for the School’s annual Alumni Weekend. Held between Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31, 2025, Hopkins welcomed hundreds of alumni, their families, emeriti, faculty, and staff back to campus to reconnect with each other and the School that helped educate, inspire, and form them.

The weekend began on Friday, May 30, with an Alumni Golf Outing at the Orange Hills Country Club. Alumni, parents, and friends enjoyed a beautiful day on the course at this casual outing. The festivities continued with evening dinners on campus for alumni celebrating their 25th and 50th Reunions, while other reunion classes enjoyed reconnecting at parties in local restaurants and homes.

Events began on Saturday morning with a 50th+ Reunion Brunch on campus with members of the class of 2025. Alumni asked the seniors about their Hopkins experience today, and in return
shared their own experiences from 50 years ago. Families enjoyed watching the alumni lacrosse game, while baseball alumni gathered for a casual practice in the Athletic Center. Tours were given around campus, with a focus on the new Academic and Performing Arts Center.

A luncheon was held under the big tent on Pratt Field to honor several retiring faculty and staff members. Family, friends, and colleagues spoke about each retiree and their years of dedicated service to Hopkins. Retirees honored included Thom Peters, School Archivist and history faculty; Peter Ziou, Visual Arts faculty; Wendy Parente ’75, Accounts Payable; Elizabeth Edwards, Registrar; Julie Roberge, Administrative Assistant to the Junior School; and Jack Ayer, Mathematics faculty. Following lunch, there were fun family activities on Pratt Field and in Heath Commons, including a bounce house, face painting, lawn games, and appearances by the new Hopkins mascot, The G.O.A.T.

Afternoon events included three Back to Class sessions led by Hopkins faculty members: 21st Century Democracy with John Roberts, Robotics 101 with Lynn Connelly, and a drawing lesson with Peter Ziou. Head of School Matt Glendinning gave a State of the School address, and Distinguished Alumnus Dick Wingate 1970 hgs was honored at an afternoon reception.

Special programming throughout the day included a Black Alumni Network gathering, an ice cream social for the Class of 2020, a Baseball event for the Class of 1975 with former coach Bill Porter [read more about the 1975 Baseball team reunion here], and a Hopkins Drama Association reception in the new theater.

The festivities culminated with cocktails and dinner in the big tent, with each reunion class banner hanging elegantly above the party.
