  I joined Hopkins in 1989. I was looking for a place that felt like an extension of my family since mine was so far in Spain, and I found it in Hopkins. I love teaching Spanish to my eager students. My goal has always been to make class fun so that they look forward to each and every class. I joined the Hopkins Admission team a few years later. I love introducing families to Hopkins and talking about the wonderful place that it is. I enjoy watching films, reading and spending time with my family.   In August of 2015, I joined Hopkins as an Assistant Director of Admission, Advisor, Assistant Football coach and Assistant Baseball coach. I am thrilled to be a part of the Hopkins community! Before Hopkins, I began my admissions career as a Tour Guide and Senior Interviewer as an Undergraduate at Trinity College, before serving as an Assistant Director of Admissions at The Gunnery.  I attribute my love of prep school admissions work to my experiences as a student at Episcopal Academy (Philadelphia, PA) as well as the hands-on experience of touring/interviewing countless families in college.  When I am not busy working on campus, I love to play golf, sing, bowl, follow my hometown sports teams (Eagles, Phillies, 76ers) and spend time with my dog, Buster!

  I returned to Hopkins in the fall of 2009 after having spent 21 years at a boarding school teaching history, advising, coaching, running dorms, training prefects, and working in Administration as the Director of Residential Life, the Community Life Department Head, and an Assistant Director of Admission. I have always known that it was my experience as a Hopkins student that fostered in me both a love of learning and a desire to work in independent education. After earning a BA in International Relations from Bucknell and an MA in International Affairs from George Washington, I knew I wanted to return to an independent school and have an impact on the whole student in the same way that so many of my Hopkins teachers had inspired and guided me. After a long and rewarding career at boarding school, I was presented with the opportunity of returning to the Hill and helping many students begin their Hopkins journey. I could not help but feel as if life had come full circle. In addition to interviewing students, I train and organize the school's Tour Guides as well as coordinate the Visitor/Host Program. In my spare time time I love exercise and yoga, reading, and hanging out with my two black labs and my husband.

  Lars Jorgensen

  Hopkins has been an integral part of my life for all of my life. My father (Ib Jorgensen) was a faculty member from 1957-1996. As a child, I had personal connections with the school and many of the faculty, memories that go back as far as I can remember. As a student (Class of 1982), I learned the value of hard work (both academically and athletically), teamwork and community. My Hopkins education led me to the University of Vermont, where I earned my BS in Environmental Engineering. After practicing Engineering for over a decade, I decided to change direction and start a career in education. That career change brought me back "home" to Hopkins in 1999, where I have taught mathematics, coached soccer, lacrosse and ski racing, served as a Head Adviser in all 6 grades and now as a Head Adviser and the Dean of Students. I was proud to join the Admissions team in 2018 and help find the next generation of lifelong learners. Having experienced the life of a faculty kid, a student, alum, a member of the faculty and administration and a proud parent of two alums, I am thrilled to add serving as a member of the Admissions team to my list!

  My journey with Hopkins School began in 2007. It's been an incredible ride, and I'm thrilled to share some highlights. Teaching Mandarin is a privilege, immersing students in the tapestry of language and culture. Advising and guiding high schoolers through their academic and personal explorations has been rewarding. As the Modern Language Department Chair, I've led passionately, fostering a dynamic, engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity and growth. Beyond the classroom, I help coach fitness and yoga, instilling the value of well-being. As a club advisor, I've witnessed the magic of shared passions, fostering connections that transcend the ordinary. Leading students on transformative trips abroad has broadened their horizons and ignited curiosity. Now, as part of the admissions team, I'm ecstatic to bring exceptional, passionate students into our vibrant Hopkins family. Off-campus, New Haven is where I call home, surrounded by my husband, three incredible children, and cherished companions: Cassy, our devoted dog, and Mochi, our affectionate cat. My journey to the U.S. in '97 was a leap of faith, paving the way for personal growth and new opportunities. I'm thrilled about the future, contributing to Hopkins' dynamic community. Here's to embracing learning, fostering growth, and leaving a meaningful impact.

  Carolyn Traester

  I joined the Hopkins Admission Office in August 2015. After growing up in Cheshire, CT, and attending town schools, I enrolled at an independent high school. Next I attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where I received a Master of Arts in Medieval History and International Relations. In 2010, I began my career in independent schools, working first in student activities and then moving full-time into admissions, additionally serving as a dorm head and adviser and a coach for archery, squash, and fencing. Since starting at Hopkins, I have worked with the girls squash program and have advised students in the classes of 2019, 2023 and now 2027. Besides my work in the Admission Office, I also serve as the Director of Financial Aid. I love showing prospective families what a special place Hopkins is!

  I joined the Hopkins Admissions team in September 2011. After graduating from Hobart William Smith Colleges (Geneva, New York) in 1990, I began my teaching career at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut as a math teacher, coach and residential faculty. In 1998, I received a degree in Special Education from St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, Connecticut. With my teaching experience and degree in hand, I established and managed learning centers at the Renbrook School in West Hartford Connecticut and The Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Connecticut. I also worked for seven years at Salisbury School in Salisbury, Connecticut as the Director of the Rudd Learning Center. I am currently the Director of the Academic Support Program at Hopkins. During my years in the classroom as a teacher and director of various academic support programs, my mission has been to support students and teachers both in and out of the classroom. Finally, I am married to Holly McGlennon Treat, an educational consultant, and we have two children; Andrew, Hopkins '18, and Amelia, Hopkins '21. We like to travel during the summer months to Gloucester, MA.   I began my career at Hopkins in 1980 as a 9th grader. After Hopkins, I attended Wellesley College where I majored in Psychology. I began my career in admissions at Trinity College as the Director of Multi-Cultural recruiting. It was my job at Trinity that brought me back to Hopkins. After a recruiting trip to campus and reconnecting with many faculty members that played such an important role in my life as a student I returned to Hopkins in 1995 when I was hired as Hopkins’ first Director of Diversity. After nine years as the Diversity Director, I was excited to get back into the Admission Office full-time.. I enjoyed everything about my independent school experience and I get to share those experiences with people every day. My campus responsibilities include advising, overseeing our Parent Ambassador program, and assisting with all Admission Office programming. You can often find me in my office laughing, mentoring, or just spending time with our students. They are truly a remarkable group of young people.   I came to Hopkins in September of 1997 as a math teacher and a junior school adviser, having taught for one year in public school after completing my Masters Degree in Education at Fordham University. In the fall of 2002, I became a Head Adviser and served as the Head Adviser to the Ninth Grade for several years, specializing in the transition into high school at Hopkins. It has been a privilege to guide each incoming class of intelligent, active, and caring individuals, as they have learned to navigate the academic, athletic, and social challenges that Hopkins offers its ninth graders. I currently serve as the Dean of Academics and teach math. I have been a Head Adviser, have coached the JV Math Team and have been the Faculty Adviser to the yearbook. I became a member of the Admission Committee because I truly love teaching and working with the amazing students we have at Hopkins, and I wanted to have a part in shaping each incoming class. When I am not at Hopkins, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children.

  My roots at Hopkins run pretty deep: I remember distinctly my admissions interview with the legendary Delaney Kiphuth in 1983, which marked the beginning of my formative experience as a proud member of the Class of 1989. Though I was not an outstanding student by any means, Hopkins truly helped me learn how to learn and instilled in me a love of learning that I carried with me to St. Lawrence University (BA/History, Government--feel free to ask me about my Canadian Studies minor!) and through a 15-year career in academic and educational publishing. Through those years, I maintained a close relationship to the school through my family (my mother, JoAnn, was Director of Choral Music for 20+ years) and through service on the Alumni Board of Directors. I fully returned to Hopkins to join the History faculty in 2011, and have had the pleasure of teaching the History 8, Atlantic Communities I, and 21st Century Democracy courses and coaching lacrosse and football on the Junior School and Varsity levels. I've also served as a Head Adviser, first in the Junior School and currently for the Class of 2024. I am thrilled to join the Admissions team to help find the next group of eager Hopkins students and lifelong learners. I grew up in New Haven and now reside in Hamden with my wife Kristen (Maryland native and Hopkins staff member extraordinaire), my son Charlie (Class of 2022), my daughter Violet (a current student in the Class of 2025), and beagle-mutt Calvin T. Dog.
