Vergara Leads Hilltoppers Past Gunn

Junior Chiu Yen Vergara was on fire and scored four goals to lead the Hilltoppers to victory against the Frederick Gunn School last Saturday. Other scorers were Lauren Sklars (3), Marin Ciardiello (2), Lily Scheps (2), and Bella Kaplan (2). Hopkins played a complete game and was in control of the pace of play for its entirety. A noteworthy element of the game was our low turnover percentage. Every ground ball was contested by two or three girls, defensive slides and crashes were quick and loud, and offensive ball carriers had multiple options. This win proves that taking care of the ball and taking care of each other is a key component to success on the field. We look forward to building on this and bringing this same level of support, focus, and energy when we face Hamden Hall on Monday. Go HOP!
