Hilltoppers Drop to 2-2 After Loss to Hornets

On Saturday, October 10th, the Hopkins Hilltoppers hosted the Hackley School Hornets for a noon kickoff.  The game moved quickly and finished in under 2 hours of total time, but unfortunately the Hilltoppers could not keep up with the Hornets and fell, 28-6.

The game remained tight for most of the first half, as Hackley pulled ahead to an 8-0 lead late in the 2nd quarter and moved into halftime with the same score.  Early in the 3rd, Hackley found the endzone once again on a long touchdown run to make it 15-0.  Hopkins put together a big run on their next offensive possession, as John O. '28 broke a tackle and rushed 71 yard into the endzone to make it 15-6 (after a failed two-point play).  This was unfortunately the Hilltoppers only score of the game, and after giving up two more second half touchdowns the final score was set at 28-6.

Hopkins will look to rebound from their recent loss as they head on the road this upcoming Saturday to face the Fieldston Eagles.  This will be the first time these two teams faced off since Hopkins thrilling 20-14 overtime win against Fieldston in the 2025 MIFL Bowl Championship, and we hope to see many fans on the road in attendance.
