  • Cross Country - Varsity Boys

    2025 - 2026
    Head Coach: Miguel Pizarro

Boys’ Cross Country welcomes runners of all abilities to join a team dedicated to improving, running fast and achieving at high levels.

In addition to its regular league meets, the team participates in several invitationals, such as the Canterbury Invitational, the Wickham Invitational (run on the same course as the public school State meets), and the Collegiate Invitational at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx.

The boys work closely with the girls’ team, sharing facilities, training runs, and coaching staff. Both groups are dedicated to improving and running as well as they possibly can.  There is no qualifying standard to join the team, and no one is ever cut for lack of ability of speed.  Rather, the team offers a place where all runners can see and enjoy the fruits of their efforts very directly, as improvement is directly linked to effort.  The Boys’ Cross-Country team is a close-knit group that inspires each other and their coaches.

Head Coach Miguel Pizarro joined the Cross Country coaching staff in 2003.  He became the Head Coach for Boys Cross Country in 2007, and became the Head Coach of both the Boys and Girls Teams in 2012.  In that time, his teams have earned numerous FAA and NEPSTA titles.  He was named the New Haven Register Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year for the 2018 season.  Additionally, Coach Pizarro has been teaching Latin in the Hopkins Classics department since 1999.
